    The idea of the Imagine International Academy of North Texas originated with Julia who worked with a group of founders in McKinney to bring the school into existence. She attended schools in Tanzania, Kenya, and Botswana which fueled her passion for international education. She joined Imagine Schools in 2007, wrote the school's charter application, and has been closely involved with all aspects of the school's development and performance since then. Prior to Imagine, she taught at Brookhaven College in Dallas and Collin College in Plano. She holds a B.A. in Sociocultural Anthropology & Economics, a graduate certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership & Organization from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is completing her doctorate in Education Leadership & Innovation.

  • Holly Baker

    Holly holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Southwestern University, and TX state certification for Kindergarten, Elementary Grades 1-8, and Elementary Spanish. She was previously the head teacher at the Wildwood School in California for five years before joining Imagine.  Holly has been with us since 2012 as a founding teacher working with Grade 2 students, before taking on the role of IB Primary Years Programme Coordinator in which she served teachers and students in Grades K-5. She brings with her a wealth of experience working with elementary students of all ages and utilizing gifted and talented best practices to bring out their potential.

  • Elisha Upton

    Elisha holds a B.A. in International Relations and African Studies from Michigan State University, an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Texas at Arlington, an International Baccalaureate graduate certificate in Teaching & Learning from Bethel University, and TX state certification for Social Studies in Grades 8-12. Prior to joining Imagine, she worked with charter school students in Dallas, teaching Advanced Placement World History and U.S. Government. Elisha has been with us since 2012 as a founding teacher and has held the roles of Grade 8 Social Studies teacher, IB Middle Years Programme Coordinator serving teachers and students in Grades 6-10, and IB Diploma Programme Coordinator serving teachers and students in Grades 11-12. 

  • Angela Farrell

    Angela holds a B.A. in Communication Studies from Southwestern University, an M.Ed in Educational Administration from Lamar University, and TX state certification in Special Education (EC-12), English as a Second Language (EC-12), Generalist (4-8), and Mathematics (4-8).  Prior to joining Imagine, she worked with Richardson ISD in the areas of Special Education, Mathematics, and Student Support.  Angela has been with us since 2012, and has held the roles of IB Coordinator and IB Primary Years Programme Director.  She oversees academic data assessments at our school including SAT/ACT, STAAR, STAR Renaissance, and supports teachers with Imagine Schools regional academic initiatives and data analysis.  

  • Scott Strough

    Scott holds a B.A. in Modern Languages from the University of Texas at Arlington, and TX state certification in Physical Education (EC-12), Generalist (4-8), and English Language Arts (8-12).  He is very familiar with charter schools, having previously worked with KIPP and International Leadership of Texas.  Scott is passionate about helping students learn and excel in life through academics and athletics, and is working to help educate our staff and students about restorative justice practices which support the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile Traits.

    Kim holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is certified for Core Subjects (EC-6). She has been with us since 2015, starting out as a Grade 2 classroom teacher, moving into the role of Primary Years Coordinator, and most recently, taking our school through the reauthorization process for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme which takes place every five years.  Our whole school benefits from her creativity, her organizational skills, and her ability to problem-solve pretty much anything!

    Pam holds a B.A. in English Language Arts from the University of North Texas and TX state certification in English Language Arts (8-12)and English as a Second Language (8-12).  She joined Imagine in 2012 as an Upper School English teacher in the Middle Years Programme, and has a special affinity for our middle school students.  Pam initiated our annual Shakespeare's Globe Theater project and introduced many of our middle school students to some exceptional works of literature.  In her role as Middle Years Programme Coordinator, she is passionate about helping teachers improve their instruction, focus on IB unit planning, and integrate best practices into the classroom setting. 

  • Hannah Nayakanti

    Diploma Programme Coordinator

    Hannah holds a B.S. in Genetics, Microbiology, and Chemistry from Osmania University, India, an M.S. in General Biochemistry from the University of Madras, India, and an M.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Oklahoma State University.  She joined Imagine in 2013 teaching Grade 7 Sciences and then moved into the Diploma Programme teaching Standard and Higher Level Biology.  Hannah currently coordinates our high-performing International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, while also continuing to teach Higher Level DP Biology.  She works tirelessly to make sure that each of our juniors and seniors crosses the finish line for graduation and meets all the necessary deadlines for the International Baccalaureate Organization, supported by the entire IB Diploma Programme teaching team.

    Carmen holds a B.A in Elementary Education from St. Joseph's College and joined Imagine as a Grade 4 teacher in 2012.  Carmen has been an exceptional leader both on her team and within the school, mastering International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme inquiry-based unit planning and instruction, serving as a mentor teacher to others in the Primary Years Programme, and building close relationships with her peers, students, and the families she has served.  She was named our school's Teacher of the Year for the 2013-2014 school year for her outstanding work with her students.  For the 2019-2020 school year, Carmen has joined the Primary Years Programme Team as our Lower School Instructional Coach, working to support teachers new to Imagine and the International Baccalaureate, while also helping current teachers hone their skills.

    Helen holds a B.S. in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, and an M.S. in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas, as well as Texas state certification in Elementary Education (1-8), Special Education (PK-12), and Severely/Profoundly Handicapped (PK-12).  She joined Imagine in 2012, first working with our Lower School and then moving to teach Math in our Middle Years Programme.  Helen was named our school's 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year for her exceptional instructional skills and her ability to differentiate for the needs of students in her classroom, leading to outstanding learning gains.  For the 2019-2020 school year, Helen has joined our Upper School team as our Upper School Instructional Coach, working to support students and teachers new to Imagine and the International Baccalaureate.
